Daily Choices

Jeremiah 29:13,14
"If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.  I will be found by you,"  says the LORD.

Twenty Two years.  The time has gone by slowly as each day passes yet flown as I look back over the years.  This anniversary of our marriage brings back memories that are so vague they almost seem to have happened to someone else and others so distinct they continue to change us even now.  Choices made daily, words spoken...and not spoken, living life, hurt, brokenness, renewal, grace; both of us with a deep desire for love, understanding, and intimacy.
It takes work, effort...but it is profoundly rewarding.

It is a reflection, an image of my relationship with God.  I must now pursue and seek after Him with the effort of my whole heart because when sin entered the picture, the perfectly intimate relationship with Him was lost.  He does not want me to be lazy in my relationship or take Him for granted just expecting Him to fulfill duties.  No, He longs for romance, desire, love, intimacy...the way it was supposed to be.  He wants a relationship where I am putting in effort to find what has been lost, fighting for genuine love.  My deep desires for love were created by God...revealing His own heart.

Am I pursuing God with my whole heart?

The Most Marvelous Gift

2 Corinthians 5:21-6:1
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.  As God's partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift and then ignore it.

It has been so fun to watch Brandon this Christmas.  Almost everyday, he looks under the Christmas tree and sorts through the gifts pulling aside the ones labeled with his name which by now he has conveniently stacked together .  He then proceeds to admire the packages, gently shake, then guess what could be inside.  Last night he even went to go get other things he thought sounded like what could be inside to compare their noises.  He is bursting with anticipation and we can't imagine how excited he will be to open and enjoy them.

It made me think.  What am I doing with God's most precious gift?

Salvation through Jesus....
admire, unwrap, open, delight,
be amazed, enjoy, show other, share.

We are looking forward to our upcoming trip to Iowa and the chance to see many of you.  Thank you for your calls, prayers, friendship and support for God's work here in Alaska.  Merry Christmas to you all!   -the Ruisch Family
